Craig Mackinlay MP has attended the HMS Kent Ceremonial March Past in Maidstone in Honour of the Freedom of the County.
Kent County Council granted this honour to HMS Kent and the Ship’s Company at a special County Council meeting on Thursday 21st September.
The South Thanet MP joined the Chairman of Kent County Council, Mr Gary Cooke, and other dignitaries, together with representatives from the Royal Navy and HMS Kent, for this celebratory event that took place on Friday 22nd September.
The Ceremonial March took place at Maidstone Town Hall before marching to County Hall via Maidstone High Street and Week Street. A reception in the Stone Hall, Sessions House, followed the March.
Craig Mackinlay MP commented:
“It was an honour to be invited to attend this historic occasion. There is a long association between HMS Kent and the county so it was a great honour for me to witness the County Council awarding the ship's company with the Freedom of the County."
