South Thanet MP, Craig Mackinlay, has attended Bradstow School’s Poppy Proms In The Park event at the Memorial Recreation Ground in Broadstairs at the invitation of Headteacher, Sarah Dunn.
For two days, Bradstow School hosted a commemoration of the end of World War Two. The performance event took place within a big top and used song, dance and stories from Broadstairs and St Peter’s, with a living exhibit including time tunnel and World War One trench.
Local schools and performers collaborated to bring World War One to life in the free event for the whole community.
The event built upon the work of Bradstow School’s previous project over the past four years: Friendships and Fallouts – Waterloo to World War One.
Craig Mackinlay MP commented:
“I was delighted to stand with Bradstow School’s pupils, parents and teachers to celebrate the lives of the 187 men and boys from Broadstairs and St Peter’s who fell during World War One and remember the courageous men and women who have served this country, fought for our freedoms, and kept us safe.
“We will always remember those who have fallen and those who have risked their lives to protect us all and I congratulate all at Bradstow School on a very fitting Remembrance Weekend.”
