Local MP, Craig Mackinlay, has joined Members of Sandwich Town Council at their annual meeting in which the new Mayor of Sandwich, Cllr Jeff Franklin, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr MJ Holloway, were formally elected and sworn in.
The event was open to the public in the Court Room of the 16th century Guildhall. Although no longer a court of law, the Court Room remains the scene of traditional ceremonies such as Mayor Making, and is a popular wedding venue.
Craig Mackinlay MP commented:
“The Mayor Making at the Guildhall was a great evening of tradition, good humour and Sandwich at its best in the surroundings of the 1579 Magistrates’ Court.
“Congratulations to the new Mayor Cllr Jeff Franklin, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr MJ Holloway.”
