South Thanet MP, Craig Mackinlay, has met with the Founding Director of GOTO Energy (UK) Limited, Nikki Goode, at his business premises in Discovery Park in Sandwich.
Mr Goode and his team have established Kent’s first and only regulated Domestic Energy Supply business, which is authorised and regulated by Ofgem the industry regulator, to supply energy contracts for gas and electricity to domestic homes throughout Great Britain.
GOTO Energy’s dual fuel product is green, using electricity generated by sustainable and renewable sources, Mr Goode says that he anticipates annual savings for consumers on average of £250 per annum subject to individual usage profiles in comparison with the Bix Six energy company’s Standard Variable Tariffs.
In October last year, the company successfully applied for funding from the Kent and Medway Business Fund (KMBF) with the help of Locate in Kent. The County Council has provided matched funding of £500,000 with which the company plans to expand its footprint at Discovery Park. They anticipate adding 25-30 new jobs at the park once the funding is received.
Nikki Goode commented:
“‘We are launching GOTO Energy at a time when consumers are suffering from a raft of new suppliers who promised low prices but are now delivering some unpleasant surprises in their bills.
“We offer long-term good value coupled with friendly, knowledgeable UK based customer service.
“By buying energy in advance we’re better able to predict the future cost and help consumers avoid similar surprises.
“And we are supporting the local region both through staff recruitment and some special introductory offers for Kent residents.”
Craig Mackinlay MP added:
“I am well aware both that the energy market is not currently working for all consumers and that the cost of living is still a challenge for some families. Price considerations when assessing unit costs and standing charges can make comparability decisions confusing.
“I am so pleased that the new energy company, GOTO Energy has made South Thanet their home, with substantial local employment opportunities and the prospect of local people having the option of a local company offering competitive energy pricing.
“I congratulate Nikki Goode and his team in Sandwich on their business and look forward to working with them in the future.”
