After calling on pub goers in South Thanet to nominate their favourite local, MP Craig Mackinlay has announced that the Artillery Arms in Ramsgate was the most popular choice.
The pub on West Cliff Road will now go forward as the entrant from the South Thanet constituency for the Parliamentary Pub of The Year 2019 awards.
Craig Mackinlay MP commented:
“With its military-themed stain glass windows and excellent choice of beer including a great selection of local Gadds’ real ales, the Artillery Arms exudes tradition and is valued greatly by both locals in, and visitors to, Ramsgate.
“On a personal note, I’m delighted that the Artillery Arms will be the South Thanet constituency’s entrant as it’s a pub that I’ve frequented for 25 years.”
The Parliamentary Pub of The Year awards offers all 650 MPs the opportunity to nominate their constituency’s favourite boozer. The competition focuses on celebrating pubs in local communities up-and-down the country and culminates in a national final at the House of Commons in Westminster. Last year's winner, the Four Elms from Cardiff, submitted a great video linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCSmc9jrmEE.
