Craig Mackinlay MP has declared this year’s Thanet Jobs, Skills and Apprenticeships Fair “a huge success” after over 60 exhibitors – including BAE Systems, Barclay’s Bank, the RAF, Pfizer and the NHS – offered thousands of positions across tens of sectors to job and apprenticeship seekers in Thanet and East Kent.
The Fair - which took place at the ‘The Hall By The Sea’ within Dreamland, Margate, on Friday 5 October 2018 - was jointly organised with North Thanet MP, Sir Roger Gale, in partnership with Margate and Ramsgate Jobcentres, as well as Thanet District Council.
Local employers and trainee providers Blaze Signs, East Kent College, FUJIFILM and Orbit all kindly agreed to sponsor the event which has been hailed a success by all who took part.
An estimated 1,000 jobseekers attended.
South Thanet MP, Craig Mackinlay, commented:
“It was a great day with an amazing buzz and very positive feedback from employers who were impressed by the well-prepared candidates they saw, with many saying job offers will be made.
“This was a truly fantastic occasion and I was encouraged to see so many individuals across Thanet take full advantage of the fantastic opportunities available at our Jobs, Skills and Apprenticeships Fair. I am extremely grateful to all the exhibitors who took the time to display at the fair, without their support the day would simply not have been possible.
“Special mention also needs to go out to our local Department for Work and Pensions officials, in particular Daniel Graham at Ramsgate Jobcentre, and also our sponsors Blaze Signs, East Kent College, FUJIFILM and Orbit, without whose generous help and assistance, we would not have been able to organise such a hugely successful day.
“I will continue to work with employers, training providers and the DWP to change lives in Thanet.”
