The Future of Manston Airport

Craig and the Taiwanese Trade Delegation at Manston Airport

This month Thanet District Council will open a public consultation on their Local Plan. The Local Plan is a strategy for all future developments in the local area. One of the most important aspects covered in the consultation will be Manston Airport.

The draft local plan proposed by the council recommends the end of Manston as an Airport, suggesting instead the site be used for housing and ‘mixed use’ development. The density of this housing appears to be at the maximum permissible under National Planning Framework recommendations. This policy change was seen by many as a major u-turn by Council Leader Chris Wells.

This consultation on the Local Plan gives all of us the opportunity to tell TDC exactly what we want to see happen at Manston Airport.

I maintain that Manston has a great future for aviation, which would provide a huge number of well paid jobs and opportunities for the area.

The survey below will enable you to tell me directly what you think the future of Manston Airport should be. I will also send the results of this survey directly to TDC, to ensure your views are represented in the consultation of the new Local Plan. Please encourage your friends, family and neighbours to also complete this survey.
